Exodus 13:17 "When Pharaoh finally let the people go, God did not lead them along the main road that runs through Philistine territory, even though that was the shortest route to the Promised Land. God said, 'If the people are faced with a battle, they might change their minds and return to Egypt."
After all the fighting with Pharaoh, the Israelites were finally free to go to the Promised Land. Now God decides to take them on a scenic route. "Why?" you may ask. He was afraid that they would change their minds if they faced a battle. Maybe you're going through a time where you feel like God is taking you on a scenic route, but if you do, just remember that He is doing it to get you to your destination. He is preparing you. I believe God is more concerned with getting us there than He is with getting us there on high speed internet.
Dear Lord,
When You take me on a scenic route, please help me to trust and obey You even though it seems so odd to me. Thank You for loving me like You do. Amen.
