Numbers 32:5 "If we have found favor with you, please let us have this land as our property instead of giving us land across the Jordan River."
The Israelites were almost there. The Promised Land was closer to their grasp than any other time, when a few people began wanting to stay in the land they were presently in. The land was "ideally suited for (their) livestock." (32:4b), but it wasn't the Promised Land. It was comfortable, though, and they didn't have to wait any longer for it. How often I've been like that. I'll settle for less just because it's better than nothing. It's better than being single one more Valentine's Day. It's better than not having anyone to talk to, but is it really better? No! Settling for less than God's best is never better, even if it seems "better" for a time.
Dear Lord,
Help me not settle for less than Your best! Instead, help me wait patiently for what You have in store. Forgive me for the times I've compromised my standards for pleasure or convenience. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
