Mighty Heros

March 21, 2011
Judges 8:4 "Gideon then crossed the Jordan River with his 300 men, and though exhausted, they continued to chase the enemy."

Tired, worn out, plain exhausted, yet they continued to chase the enemy. They pressed forward and didn't give up. Even after encountering two groups who refused to feed their tired army, they pressed on to complete the task God gave them. It is easy to want to give up at times for us too. We get tired of fighting the enemy on temptations and want to give in. We get tired of being called the "good girl" and want to act out just once to not have that title anymore. We get tired of chasing the enemy when someone bugs us, and we want to say something we'd regret. We can't stop fighting the enemy, though. God says that with every temptation He provides a way out. With being called the "good girl", praise God! We are called to be set apart for God, different from the world's "normal," and with wanting to say something unkind, our tongue has the power to heal, kill, or even destroy, so choose wisely. When it gets tough, and you're exhausted from chasing the enemy, remember Gideon... Don't give up or give in! Just like Gideon, we are God's mighty heroes.

Dear Lord,
Thank You for the story of Gideon! He could've given up, but he didn't. He pressed on! Lord, when I feel like giving in, remind me of Gideon. Give me courage and strength to march on and continue chasing the enemy. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
