1 Samuel 12:20-22 "'Don't be afraid,' Samuel reassured them. 'You have certainly done wrong, but make sure now that you worship the Lord with all your heart, and don't turn your back on him. Don't go back to worshiping worthless idols that cannot help or rescue you-they are totally useless! The Lord will not abandon his people, because that would dishonor his great name. For it has pleased the Lord to make you his very own people.'"
This verse warms my heart! To realize that God won't abandon His people is the most comforting promise! How many of you have ever messed up? I know I have! "Samuel," it says, "reassured them, 'You have certainly done wrong, but make sure now that you worship the Lord with all your heart, and don't turn your back on him.'" Repentance, that is what it comes down to is repentance. "To turn away from" is what it means to repent. To stop watching the t.v. shows that are inappropriate; to stop spending all day on your phone when you notice you're putting too much time into it; to stand up for what you believe in and stop going along with the crowd, that's repentance. Stopping what you're doing and turning from it... that's true repentance. Stop Turn Obey Pray!
Dear Lord,
Thank You for Your promise to never leave me or abandon me even though I deserve to be left and abandoned. Please, forgive me for putting other things before You! Help me do better. Remind me when I begin to go the wrong way and drift off the straight path to STOP! Stop, Turn, Obey, Pray. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
